When it comes to curl cream and curl gels everyone has a preference;.
So let’s talk about the difference between the two and what is best for your hair.
A curl cream is essentially a lotion for your curls. Although just like a lotion over the course of the day, the cream will wear off leaving your texture fuzzy and dry.
With a cream there is almost never any crunch (aka a cast). A cast is essential to having your curls last for days while still being frizz free.
We never recommend using a cream as your main source of hold. Creams can be used as a point of moisture or hydration but when used alone will become a fuzzy mess in a matter of hours.
A curl gel is a tried and true option for all curl textures. A gel will allow you to form a cast over the hair which is what allows curls to last for days!
There are a multitude of gels with different hold that range from a soft cast to a strong cast so there is something for everyone.
Even if you can’t stand crunch at all, you can always remove it by scrunching it out with a serum.
So what we recommend is 100% a gel. It will give you plump curls that last for days. If you can’t part with your favorite cream, use a bit of it under your gel for hydration.
